Congratulations to Koshkimbaev Karshiga Sarsenbayevich on his 80th birthday!

The staff of the Institute of Zoology warmly congratulates Koshkimbaev Karshiga Sarsenbayevich, Senior Researcher of the Laboratory of Arachnology and Other Invertebrates, on his 80th anniversary!

The life path and scientific activity of Karshiga Sarsenbayevich are a vivid example of dedication to science, determination, and service to national biology. For many years he devoted himself to the study of blood-sucking Diptera, making a significant contribution to the development of domestic zoology. As a result of scientific research, three species new to science were described: Psilocnetha almae, Levitinia tamarae, Montisimulium peskovi (Diptera, Simuliidae), and extensive knowledge and data on the fauna, ecology, systematics and the role of blood-sucking insects of Kazakhstan as indicators of environmental condition are reflected in more than 50 scientific articles.

Karshiga Sarsenbayevich was among the authors and editors of several terminological dictionaries on ecology, including: “Ecological Dictionary” (Kazakh–Russian, Russian–Kazakh, 2000); “Industry Dictionary on Ecology and Nature Protection” (2002) and others. He translated A.K. Brodsky’s book “A Brief Course of General Ecology” into Kazakh, which became the first textbook on general ecology in the state language.

His scientific path is inseparably linked with educating new generations of biologists. For more than 30 years Koshkimbaev K.S. passed on his knowledge to students of the Faculty of Biology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, fostering interest in biology and ecological thinking among young scientists.

The 80th anniversary is not only a remarkable date but also an occasion to express sincere gratitude for many years of diligent work, loyalty to science and devotion to the cause.

From the bottom of our hearts we wish our colleague strong health, happiness, long life, new joyful events and well-being in his family. May your rich experience and wisdom continue to inspire colleagues and students, and may each new day bring only joy and satisfaction.

With respect and appreciation, the staff of the Institute of Zoology.
