An educational lecture on zoology was delivered by a leading researcher at the Laboratory of Ornithology and Herpetology of the Institute of Zoology at a school in Talgar.

On 20 October 2026, Tatyana Nikolaevna Duisebayeva, Candidate of Biological Sciences and Professor, and a leading researcher at the Institute of Zoology of the Republic of Kazakhstan, met with students in Grades 6 and 7 at Zhambyl Zhabayev Secondary School No. 6 in Talgar, Almaty Region.
Tatyana Nikolaevna introduced the students to the main research areas of Kazakhstani zoologists, their field expeditions, the study of wildlife, and efforts to conserve rare species listed in the Red Data Book of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The students watched a film about the work of zoologists, produced by young researchers from the Institute specifically for educational outreach events. They also took part in a themed quiz and had the opportunity to ask questions.

As a gift to the school, the participants presented books, posters, and brochures about the wildlife of Kazakhstan and the world, published by the Institute of Zoology of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Association for the Conservation of Biodiversity of Kazakhstan (ACBK), and Kazakhstani philanthropist Adam Kapanov.
An important part of the meeting was a discussion of environmental legislation. Zoryana Miroslavovna Dikalchuk, the school’s mentor for the Law and Order project, spoke to the students about the legal framework for nature conservation in Kazakhstan and the relevant provisions of the country’s Constitution.
The meeting concluded with a discussion of prospects for further cooperation with Aidar Boranbekuly Konyratov, the school’s acting principal, and the deputy principals of Secondary School No. 6.
Such meetings help spark schoolchildren’s interest in science, introduce them to the work of researchers, and foster a sense of responsibility for conserving Kazakhstan’s biodiversity.
