International Scientific and Practical Conference “Problems and Prospects of Conservation of Biodiversity in Central Asia”

Event dates: 6 – 8 November 2025.

From 6 to 8 November 2025, the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University will hold an International Scientific and Practical Conference on “Problems and Prospects for the Conservation of Biodiversity of Central Asia”.

The initiative to hold the conference is directly linked to the priorities outlined by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the IV National Kurultai held in March 2025. In his address, the Head of State paid special attention to the protection of natural ecosystems and biodiversity as a strategic direction of the country’s sustainable development.

The conference aims to exchange knowledge and up-to-date scientific information on the region’s biodiversity, environmental protection, ecological education and sustainable nature management. The event will also focus on the conservation of the Sievers apple (Malus sieversii), the development of ecotourism and digitalization in ecological research.

  • Working languages: Kazakh, Russian, English.
  • Venue: Almaty, National Academy of Sciences of the RK (plenary session), Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management (sectional sessions).
  • Articles should be submitted by 5 October 2025 to: unesco.kaznu@gmail.com.
  • Participant registration is available on the website greenbridgework.kaznu.kz (tab “International Conference”).
  • Conference materials will be published as an electronic collection prior to the conference.
  • Peer-reviewed articles will be published in the journal “Vestnik KazNU. Geographical Series” (conference proceedings, indexed in Scopus).
  • Registration fee: 200 USD (external participants) / 90 USD (organizer partners).
