EXPANDED MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF YOUNG SCIENTISTS OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES UNDER THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

On March 31, 2026, an expanded meeting of the Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Almaty at “Gylym Ordasy.”
Gulzhanat Bakytovna Tanabekova, Scientific Secretary, Senior Researcher, PhD at the Institute of Zoology of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, took part in the event.

During the meeting, the updated composition of the Council was presented, noting that 40% of its members were renewed this year through a rotation process. New members were admitted to the Council.

One of the key items on the agenda was the election of the Chairperson of the Council. As a result of an open vote, Maksat Zhabagin, Head of Laboratory at the National Center for Biotechnology, was elected to this position.

In addition, heads of the Council’s sectoral divisions were approved, and issues related to the development of scientific infrastructure, support for young scientists, and improving the quality of personnel training were extensively discussed. Proposals were developed during the meeting, and the regulations of the Academy of Young Researchers were presented.

The Council of Young Scientists was established in 2024 and today serves as an important platform aimed at the professional development of young researchers in Kazakhstan, the advancement of science, and the improvement of science policy.
