Perizat Abdykairovna Yesenbekova included in the new volume of the series “Higher Education and Science of Kazakhstan in Faces — XXI Century”

In the new ninth volume of the publication “Higher Education and Science of Kazakhstan in Faces — XXI Century” an essay about Perizat Abdykairovna Yesenbekova is presented — professor and senior researcher of the Entomology Laboratory of the Institute of Zoology of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Perizat Abdykairovna’s name is well known in scientific circles. She is the author and co-author of over 440 publications, including 22 books. Her scientific works include monographs and popular science publications:

  • Monographs: “Heteroptera of Kazakhstan (Полужесткокрылые)”, “Trilingual Dictionary of Invertebrate Animals”.
  • Popular science books: “Heteroptera”, “Insects of Sairam-Ugam State National Natural Park”, “Insects of Kolsai Lakes SNNP”, “Insects of Barsakelmes Reserve”, “Insects of Jungar-Alatau SNNP”, and others.

She holds 1 patent and 9 inventor’s certificates. Her translation work deserves special mention: Yesenbekova P.A. made accessible in Kazakh such books as “Fauna of Kazakhstan”, “Red Book of Kazakhstan (Invertebrates)”, “Treasures of the Plant World of Kazakhstan”, “Reserves and National Parks of Kazakhstan” and many others.

During her teaching activities at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University she prepared two textbooks: “Rearing and Use of Stinging Hymenoptera (Entomophages and Pollinators)” (2003), and “Field-study manual for the subject Invertebrate Zoology” (2011). Today she continues active scientific work and heads the editorial board of the Kazakh-language journal “Bulletin of Zoology of Kazakhstan”.

The 9th volume was published for the first time in three languages at once — Kazakh, Russian and English. All volumes of the series are available on the website of the National Library of the RK.

The series “Higher Education and Science of Kazakhstan in Faces — XXI Century” is a large-scale project telling the stories of the country’s outstanding scientists and educators. The project author and editor is G.M. Batyrbekova. The first books of this series appeared back in 1998. The release of the current volume is timed to the special date — the 100th anniversary of the project’s initiator, historian and educator Mushtai Batyrbekovich Batyrbekov.
