The milestone 30th issue of Saiga News has been published — an international information bulletin devoted to the conservation and study of the saiga (Saiga tatarica), a rare steppe antelope listed in the IUCN Red List. Published since 2005, the journal is issued biannually in six languages, including Kazakh and Russian, and covers current nature conservation topics in the saiga’s range countries: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Mongolia, and China.

Saiga News covers the latest scientific research, fieldwork, conservation initiatives, international cooperation, legislative issues, and environmental education. The publication is produced under the auspices of the Saiga Conservation Alliance (SCA), an international alliance dedicated to saiga conservation.
For many years, the editorial board included Yury Alexandrovich Grachev (1939–2024) from Kazakhstan, a Candidate of Biological Sciences and Senior Researcher in the Theriology Laboratory of the Institute of Zoology of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since last year, the baton on the editorial board has been passed to Marina Alexandrovna Chirikova, a Candidate of Biological Sciences and Acting Director General of the Institute of Zoology. The current issue features an article by M.A. Chirikova dedicated to the memory of Y.A. Grachev.
Main topics of the 30th issue:
- The Kazakhstani “Altyn Dala” initiative has become a laureate of the international Earthshot Prize
- An overview of the status of saiga populations in Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Russia
- Material on saiga interactions with predators and the results of long-term monitoring
- A selection of new scientific publications
