The meeting with entomologist Ji Shen Wang (PhD), a specialist in neuropteran insects, took place at the Institute of Zoology RK

During the scientific seminar, our colleague from China shared modern methods for studying this group of insects, including morphological and molecular analyses, as well as the latest approaches to systematics, classification, and bioecological research. Special attention was paid to the results of more than a decade of work, which led to the description of several new insect species and revealed their ecological significance.

The presentation sparked keen interest among the institute’s staff. Ji Shen Wang not only provided detailed answers to numerous questions but also offered valuable recommendations regarding the application of modern technologies in entomology, such as DNA barcoding, high-resolution microscopy, and the use of big data to construct phylogenetic trees.

Following the presentation, a fruitful discussion took place with colleagues from the entomology laboratory, during which they discussed prospects for future collaboration between the Institute of Zoology and scientific institutions in China. In particular, they explored plans for joint research, including expeditions, knowledge exchange, and comparative analyses of the lacewing insect fauna in various regions of Asia.

The event underscored the importance of international collaboration in entomology and opened up new opportunities for scientific exchange and the implementation of joint projects. Dr. Ji Shen Wang’s visit served as a vivid example of how cooperation among scientists from different countries promotes the development of science and deepens our understanding of our planet’s biodiversity.
