Following the results of the конкурс, Aidyn Baurzhanovich Eszhanov, PhD, Head of the Laboratory of Arachnology and Other Invertebrates, member of the Academic Council of the Institute, and head of program-targeted funding, has been elected Director General of the RSE “Institute of Zoology” of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On July 4, 2026, a meeting of the Institute’s staff was held with the Acting Chairman of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhaiyk Khamitovich Tokhtarov, during which the results of the competition were officially announced.
Addressing the staff, Zhaiyk Khamitovich noted the significant contribution of the previous Director General, Roman Vasilyevich Yashchenko, to the development of the Institute, the strengthening of its scientific potential, and the enhancement of its international reputation. He also congratulated Aidyn Baurzhanovich on his election to the new position, wishing him successful implementation of all initiatives, further development of the Institute, new scientific achievements, and productive work for the benefit of national science.
The staff of the Institute joined in the congratulations, expressing confidence that under the new leadership the Institute of Zoology will continue to strengthen its position as one of the leading scientific centers of Kazakhstan in the study, conservation, and sustainable use of the animal world.
