On February 11–12, 2026, an extended board meeting of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held under the title “Higher Education and Science: The Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.” The event was chaired by Aida Balayeva, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Minister of Culture and Information.

The event brought together more than 100 leading scientists, university leaders, representatives of research organizations and expert communities, as well as international partners.
During the meeting, Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek presented the results of the Ministry’s work for 2025 and outlined tasks for 2026, emphasizing key issues in education and science and the implementation of the 2023–2029 Concept for the Development of Higher Education and Science.
The meeting served as an important platform for summarizing the development of the sector and defining strategic priorities for the coming years.

Marina A. Chirikova, Deputy Director for Science of the Institute of Zoology of the Republic of Kazakhstan, participated in the board meeting on behalf of the Institute. On February 16, at the extended meeting of the Academic Council, the staff of the Institute of Zoology were informed about the reports presented at the Ministry’s board meeting and the directives concerning digital modernization and the expanded use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in the Institute’s research activities.
