Results of the scientific seminar on the topic: «Implementation of separate provisions of European law on contractual responsibility in relation to the UN SDG»

23.11.2023 at the Department of Civil Law, Civil Procedure and Labor Law held a scientific seminar on the topic: «Implementation of separate provisions of European law on contractual responsibility in relation to the UN SDG». The speaker was Ilina Viktoriya, Deputy Chairman of the Kazakhstan National Committee of the UNESCO Program «Man and the Biosphere», the main expert of the “Institute of Zoology” CS MSHE RK Doctoral student of the 1st year of Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi. The head of the Department of Civil Law, Civil Procedure and Labour Law, Professor Suleimenova Saule, held the moderation of the scientific seminar and discussion.

During the scientific seminar, the interaction of the UN SDGs with current trends in improving law enforcement practice in the Republic of Kazakhstan was highlighted. Special attention is paid to the possibilities of implementation of some mechanisms of English and European law in the national law of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the context of their historical expediency and practical necessity.

During the discussion and exchange of views, the participants of the scientific seminar expressed the need for a thorough and complete analysis of the actual law enforcement practice and law-making process with a view to the subsequent formulation of proposals, aimed at improving the mechanisms for the implementation of existing legal institutions.

In addition, one of the main results of the meeting was the opportunity to discuss the submission of joint applications for participation in competitions of scientific projects and financing of fundamental research. In particular, special attention should be given to specific enforcement issues relating to international trade in endangered species of CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, CITES) (Background: Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, CITES International Governmental Agreement, signed as a result of the 1973 Resolution of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Washington).

Thus, priority topics for complex research have been identified and it is planned to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the “Institute of Zoology” CS MSHE RK and the Department of Civil Law, of the Kazakh National Al-Farabi University Faculty of Law.
