Scientific Internship “500 Scientists”

Congratulations to our colleague – Tulendy Tuleshevich Nurkenov, Head of the Laboratory of Cryobiology and Biobank of Wild Animal Germplasm at the Institute of Zoology of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on his well-deserved victory in the “500 Scientists” scientific internships competition under the state program “Bolashak”, which gives Kazakh scientists the opportunity to undertake internships at leading global centers and universities.

Tulendy Tuleshevich’s scientific internship will take place at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026.

The research topic is related to the study of the role of extracellular vesicles in intercellular communication. The interactions mediated by extracellular vesicles between different cell types are not yet fully understood.

This research project will contribute to understanding this complex signaling process.

The work will be based on advanced research methods: cell culture, isolation of extracellular vesicles by SEC (Size Exclusion Chromatography), characterization of extracellular vesicles using confocal microscopy, TEM (transmission electron microscopy), SEM (scanning electron microscopy), AFM (atomic force microscopy), DLS (dynamic light scattering), NTA (nanoparticle tracking analysis), DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blot, TLC (thin layer chromatography), immunocytochemistry and immunoblotting, and proteomic analysis.

This internship will be important for mastering modern research methods in biological science and will be useful for conducting cell biology research in Kazakhstan.

The obtained results will be used for conference participation and preparation of a manuscript for submission to a peer-reviewed journal.
