High-quality optical microscopy is the foundation of diverse research in zoology. Today, the Institute of Zoology launched a new research-grade stereoscopic microscope, the ICOE SZ1800MT!
The new device allows work with both transmitted and reflected light, offering magnification from 10x to 135x. This functionality is ideal for studying insects, medium-sized invertebrates, small vertebrates, and even unicellular organisms. Its built-in 8-megapixel camera supports 4K resolution imaging, enabling the creation of high-quality photo and video materials.
Acquiring this microscope marks a significant milestone for the Institute’s staff. For years, limited microphotography capabilities had hindered certain research efforts. Now, the advanced optics will enable the study of zoological specimens with exceptional detail, as well as the preparation of high-quality illustrations for scientific publications and reports.
Today, a presentation and initial setup of the microscope were conducted. In the coming weeks, laboratory staff will undergo training to master the equipment, fine-tune its settings, and develop suitable research methodologies. Once this phase is complete, we will share the first images captured using the new equipment!
