Professor Perizat Abdykairovna Yesenbekova, Chief Researcher of the Institute of Zoology of the Republic of Kazakhstan, conducted seminars for the staff of the science departments of the “Merke” regional nature park and the Aksu-Zhabagly State Nature Reserve.

On April 25, a seminar titled “Insects and their study” was held at the Merke State Regional Nature Park.
The “Merke” Nature Park was established in August 2025. Its creation became possible through the joint efforts of governmental, international, and scientific organizations, including the Institute of Zoology of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Institute specialists have already conducted a number of training events for the staff of the park’s scientific department. This seminar focused on methods for studying insect fauna, the most diverse group of living organisms on Earth. Participants were introduced to techniques for collecting entomological material, methods of its preservation, preparation of collections, and other key aspects of entomological research.
The second seminar, titled “Entomological studies in the territory of the Aksu-Zhabagly State Nature Reserve,” was held on May 15 for the staff of the reserve’s scientific department and students of the ecotourism college undergoing practical training in protected areas.

During the seminar, information was presented on entomological research conducted in the reserve from 2018 to 2026, along with demonstrations of collected data and photographs of insects inhabiting Aksu-Zhabagly.
Such scientific seminars contribute to improving the qualifications of staff in protected areas, advancing research activities, and strengthening cooperation between conservation and scientific organizations.
